Sometimes in my spare time I like to write stories and short stories for fun but they never amount to anything. Scott Westerfeld, James Patterson, L.J. Smith and Charlaine Harris are all some of my favorite authors, and my favorite type of story is fantasy and science fiction because I like a surreal world that I can image and explore. I like writing short stories because they're fun and creative and you get to make a little world, characters and a story for them all to follow. I find perswasive writing is a little more difficult to do. I get my idea's for writing from books i read, movies and TV I watch, and also i get some of my idea's from the news and whats really going onin the world. A piece of writing that i take great pride in is the first story i wrote in writting class which is also the first post on my blog. When ever I do a writing assignment Iusually write about two to three drafts, so I can organize my idea's and so its easier to read and understand. I think that my strenghts in writing is my abbility to create a story line and characters. My weakness as a writer is probly my lackthere of skills with puncuation and spelling. When writing I like to write on things that are happing in the media, for example if I see a sad story in the news about hardship in life, I'd write a story that may have some of those hardships in life I heard of. My goals as a writer this semester is to learn some new skills and figure out if I like to pursue writing as a hobby! :)

I lot of people enjoy science fiction and fantasy, Michael, and there seems to be more and more of it in print, graphic novels, movies, etc. A real booming area for writers. It is excellent that you spend the time you do on drafts. Grammar, spelling, and other conventions will come with time, and it is a process, for sure. Be strict with yourself and use the tools offered, such as spell check, grammar sites, etc. I look forward to reading your first writing piece in the next day or two!
