Writing 110 Reflection, it was a pretty good time yeah :D

Since the second semester started back in February I've been in Writing class, for the last five months and really enjoyed it! Everything I learnt in this class was fun and excitable, and I learnt a lot, although it was challenging at times. I really did enjoyed this class and it was one of my favorites of my second semester!
The most difficult type of writing I did this year was probably the pervasive writing i did last week. It was so hard for me because with that particular type of writing because I couldn't really pick a funny topic to do and write a lot on, so I had to pick a serious topic (and being serious is one of my strong points!). The writing I found the easiest this course had to be anything that I got to be creative on and really use my imagination. I found ones like that so easy because I have an over active imagination, probably from watching all the TV I watch like Buffy and Ugly Betty. The writing piece that I like the best is an extremely hard question because I really do like all my writing assignments because I'm proud and still a little astonished that I did all this. But if I do have to put down my favorite one I would have to say it is the pervasive essay Imma Adopt a Lil Asian Bebe !! :D I did last week, because I had to put a lot of research and time into it to make sure I did a good job on it. Link http://blackvillewriting80.blogspot.com/2010/06/imma-adopt-lil-asian-bebe-d.html. I had a chance to go redo any of my assignment I would go back and redo is The Christmas Story !!! :D. I would redo this because I think I did a pretty poor job on it because I was in a rush to do it and just did it for the hell of it. Link http://blackvillewriting80.blogspot.com/2010/04/christmas-story-d.html .
I have must of peer evaluated like 60 different times!!!!!! I found thought of it as kind of a nascence at first but then when I could use the notes from them to better my work, I realized that they actually did help. So after I realized they helped I didn't mind doing them. Back in my writing inventory I stated that my weakness was that I have very poor spelling and punctuations skills, but now I do believe that I have gotten better at this, because when ever I got marked they would always comment on my spelling and punctuation, so it made want to strive to get a mark back that said there were no errors of that sort! I don't think that ever happened, but I have improved outstandingly so its all good!
The three most enjoyable activities I did were the one minute video, the how to video and Young Lads Adventure! I enjoyed these one soo much because I got to use my imagination and had free range to do what ever I wanted! The three least enjoyable things I did were The Pigs that Pushed Their Sibling out the Window!, The three Grammar Writing Exercises and The Christmas Story. I didn't enjoy these activities because two of them had to do with spelling and grammar (one of my weak points), and the other one I didn't really pay attention to.
Ive been taking this course since second semester and have really enjoyed. Whether it be from writing articles, making videos or just because I am able to let my imagination run wild! So I would like to thank Mr. Carter for having this class and thank him for the skills I will be taking away from this, that I will keep and use for the rest of my life ! :)

Imma Adopt a Lil Asian Bebe !! :D

Adoption is where some one takes a child that is not biologically theres in as their own, to raise and treat as if it was there own child. Adoption has been around for decades if not centuries, where people would take in their siblings or neighbors children if they are deceased, and now most people adopt when they can not have children of there own. But the process of adoption is very difficult, it takes any where from a couple of months (in special situations), to a number of years! So the how adoption is very vigorous and difficult at times, but in the end is always rewarding. So I have a few things I would like to change about it would be things like that adoption in your home country should be easier, the time should be lessened to adopt, more good eligible people should be able to adopt!

A lot of the time when you hear or talk about adopting, you are usually saying that you would like to adopt a little foreign baby from some poor or overpopulated country. Most people say this not realizing that a lot of adopted children are from different countries because it it soo hard to adopt in your own country! The main reasons is because in countries like Canada, USA or ever England because we have extremely strict rules and regulations that you must file and do be for your even considered to be put on a waiting list, plus the waiting list have hundred of people on them! Causing a lot of people to travel to foreign countries like China and Africa where they can adopt a child more easily because they have soo many eligible kids that need a home fast so the process is usually a lot quicker too! That has to do with why some celebrities are running around with African or other poverty stricken children.

The wait for when you adopt a child is usually between a year to five years, and some have gone longer. When you think about this it sounds pretty crazy, because when a lot of people want to adopt they usually want a baby, but if you wanted to adopt a baby and had to wait FIVE YEARS the baby isn't a baby anymore! So i would only make sense to speed up the process to make it better a less stressful for both the parent and the child. But of course they have to do some checks on you to make sure that your not a schizophrenic pedophile, and make sure that you can support the baby and stuff, but you don't need to take five years to do what you could do with in months.

Luckily we live in a part of the world were everyone is considered equal and have rights, so if we are all the same why are there some people that aren't always allow to adopt or have a harder time adopting? For many years now gay/lesbian and single parents have been trying to adopt haven't been judged fairly because of the who they are or because they are single. Although throughout all of Canada as a gay/lesbian and single parents are legally allowed to adopt it is way harder for them, then a straight two parent family. Why you may ask, it is because there are some people in the world that don't think gay or single parents could raise children right, and with them they always to extra things to make sure they could raise a child and they are often harder on them to. But really it is people like that that cant raise a child right because with ideas like that it proves that they discriminate and probably will attempt to raise their children to think the same thing, when a single or gay parent would try to raise their children to be more open minded because of what people think of them.

"But they need to keep these measures in place to protect the safety of the children" some people who say when they are trying to crush my ideas, but in a rebuttal i am not saying that you must eliminate the laws in tact I am just saying that the laws could be lessen to help people be able to give these children a happy home more quickly. "...to protect.." when they say that do they mean protect the children from gay or single parents? If so then someone must find these children and protect them from ideas like that because its things like that that cause discrimination and prejudice in the youth, from people that have ideas like that.

Adoption is a long a strenuous battle for happiness of both children and parents to come together to make a family, so if it becomes more available for people, the wait is reduced and anyone that wants to start a family can whether it be a single parent of a gay or lesbian couple, a happy family will be made sooner. I'll say tell you my thesis one more time, "So I have a few things I would like to change about it would be things like that adoption in your home country should be easier, the time should be lessened to adopt, more good eligible people should be able to adopt!". I would like to leave you with a quote about adoption to keep you thinking, "It has been said that adoption is more like a marriage than a birth: two (or more) individuals, each with their own unique mix of needs, patterns, and genetic history, coming together with love, hope, and commitment for a joint future. You become a family not because you share the same genes, but because you share love for each other." - Joan McNamara

The Day the Music Died Review !

http://www.teenink.com/opinion/movies_music_tv/article/206127/The-Day-the-Music-Died/
The article I picked is titled "The Day the Music Died". I found it on the interwebs *cough* Teen Ink *cough* .com . It was written by Evely Nibarra. All the opening paragraph is, is a thesis, there is nothing else to it except for the thesis. The thesis is Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B, and Pop, all types of music, are amazing beats and catchy tunes, but what lies underneath all of the repeating rhythms and mainstream glamour?. The opening paragraph caught my attention because it asked a question that appealed to me, because I have noticed that a lot of popular songs nowadays don't really have much meaning to them. The article has eight paragraphs. All the paragraphs elaborate more on the thesis explaining some facts and the writers opinion. One example of this is "Take the Beattle’s for example; their songs helped people escape the terrors of the Vietnam War. When you heard their songs, you escaped the world’s troubles, momentarily. Now, flash forward to today! What are we providing for the future other than foul language and meaningless rhythms? Profanity is what this time in history will mean, lyrically, of course. "

This article is very good, but it doesn't provide any argument from the other side. It just brutally rips it apart and gives it no fight back. This article has convinced me of its argument, because it explains its self out and gives you lots of reason and examples, plus it probably help that i already agreed with the topic. The writer could have let the other side fight back so it would have more of an argument in it. A counter argument that they could have used would be the positive side for modern day music, and the argument could be "Some songs still do have lots of meaning!".

I found the ending very effective because it ended with a little mission and had you motivated to pursuit it. It was really well written didn't have any spelling mistakes that I picked up on. Overall I really liked this article because it was about something that i notice and was interested in and it helped that it was well written and was relatable!

Yeah you. Mom?

My group and I chose the YouTube video "How to be Gangster" . We chose this video because it was close to my how to topic of "How to be Ghetto". I like this video because it gave me some idea's of what we could do in our video, plus it was hysterical! I think this video was very effective with getting its message across with instructions and humor. But something I would have done differently was that I would have used a better quality camera. The element that all "How to" videos have is that they are all teaching you how to do something. Some of the elements I found most effective were the humor, the dialogue and the actions the actors did.

How to be Ghetto!

So there's a Facebook group that says Miramichi is a "ghetto" so everyone thinks that they are "ghetto", but being ghetto is quite different than being from the ghetto. And here is a list to let all you wanna be "ghetto" people become one. And here's a list of things that will help you become "GHETTO FABULOUS"!!!
Step 1
"Bling" it up! Rhinestones, jewels, anything that sparkles or shines works great. There's no such thing as too much!
Step 2
Get a loud stereo system in your car. Play rap music as loud as you can. The greater the decibel level, the more ghetto. If it makes your car vibrate, that works. If it makes buildings around your car shake, even better.

Step 3
Invest in a "grill". Grills are dental fittings that are silver, gold, or have "bling". You not only want people to notice your amazingly expensive smile, you want to blind them with it.

Step 4
Dress the part. Anything with the label Ecko, Sean John, or Apple Bottom work. Ghetto is not sloppy, make sure everything is neatly pressed, even if it is 3 sizes too big.
Step 5
Wear chains around your neck. Make sure they are big. The more "bling" you have, the more ghetto you appear. For extra ghetto appeal, add a dollar sign charm.

Step 6
Get inked. Tattoos of "RIP" along with a name, even a portrait of someone lost to the streets.

Step 7
Learn the language. It's called ebonics. It's necessary to know how to communicate.

Step 8
Buy some ghetto sneakers. Think along the lines of Air Force Ones. Ghetto is not cheap. Make sure the brand name is visible.
Step 9
Pimp your ride. Invest at least twice as much as your car is worth in the rims, stereo system, and tinting. Install a DVD player in the back of your headrests, even if you don't have a backseat.
And if you follow these simple step you will become "ghetto" !

PS. You'll need money...lots of it because being ghetto isn't cheap.

Get your Cat Spayed/Neutered or it Will KILL YOU!!!! :O

http://www.kidk.com/news/local/92136594.html?tab=video

"Woman: My cat tried to kill me" defiantly is an interesting and different title that you don't see that often on the CNN news. I picked this video because it pretty much has everything that you need to have a exciting news video. It has an interesting title, the video is affective in getting its message across and keeps your attention while doing so, and it had a lots of cool picture and a interview with the victim.

I think that this video will help me with my jobs in the talon! Even though I do In-Depths and Peoples Pick, watching this video really helped me, it proved to me by having a strange and out there title you'll get attention. Plus it cover a lot of information with voice overs when show the woman's cuts and brusies from her cat. Also I learned that you can tell a sad and serious story with humor.
